Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Defeat

Arne Slot conceded that it's expected for doubts to be raised about his future following another convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their 9th defeat in 12 matches, marking the team's poorest streak after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I have got plenty of support from management,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to change things and secure a win naturally but if you are coaching a team and underperforming then it's expected that people question you.”

He continued, “I am OK with my position. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Discussions with The Board

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the team officials, the head coach explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me all the time of the day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “Through standard conversations we have I perceive the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat yet so we'll see.”

Persistent Issues and Player Reaction

The manager expressed regret over recurring shortcomings from his team in their European defeat, namely missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder remarked.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club for years.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side going through a spell like this with outcomes so bad.”

Jones stated, “However we still have the crest on our chest. And until it is gone, we’re always going to compete.”

“Our aim is to get this team back to where it needs to be, prove once more what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the top club in the world.”

“However currently, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
