Performer Denies Anti-Vaxxer Views After Voicing Controversial Pandemic Documentary
Liam Neeson has lent his voice to a new documentary that questions the legitimacy of vaccines and commends former health official the political figure.
The Feature's Disputed Foundation
Titled "Plague of Corruption," the film is adapted from a bestselling book published by a controversial scientist, who became famous during the pandemic for allegations that the illness was linked to a faulty batch of the flu vaccine.
The book's collaborator, the executive producer, has penned books with far-right media personality the Infowars host. He took to social media celebrating Neeson's involvement in the film.
An Unequivocal Denial
A spokesperson for the actor have provided a response strongly denying implications that he holds anti-vax views.
"Everyone can recognize that corruption can exist within the pharmaceutical industry, but that should never be confused with opposition to vaccines," the comment explains. "Liam never has been, and cannot be described as, against vaccines. His extensive work with Unicef reinforces his enduring support for global immunisation initiatives."
It noted that the star had no hand in the documentary's narrative and that questions about its assertions should be directed to the filmmakers.
Key Assertions Within the Film
In the film, the narration provided by Neeson makes several strong statements:
- It suggests that pro-immunization voices have called for "unconditional submission" to government bodies.
- It declares that "medical science has become highly politicised."
- RFK Jr is interviewed saying, "The major issue with vaccines is that they just aren't safely tested."
- It takes aim at stay-at-home orders, saying they caused mental anguish that cost thousands of lives.
- On the topic of pandemic shots, it cites a perspective that they were "developed too quickly" and seen as "hazardous tests."
Previous Background and Ongoing Disputes
The documentary also references a past television report about HIV drug testing on children, which was afterwards the topic of a correction by the corporation for unbalanced reporting.
In recent weeks, the political figure directed the CDC to change its official position that there is no link between vaccines and autism spectrum disorder. This supposed link is repeated in the documentary, even with a new report from the WHO reiterating no connection has been found.
A Previous Position of Advocacy
Contrasting the film's message, Neeson has in the past expressed clear advocacy for vaccines in his role as a Unicef global ambassador.
Previously, he referred to vaccines as "a remarkable triumph," noting that "The conversation about vaccines in lately has lost sight of how much good they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in human history."
The documentary concludes with Neeson's script proclaiming, "This marks not the conclusion of our story. This is the dawn of a different phase."
