Officials declared it accepts the peace plan proposals to some extent, but has not responded to several crucial requirements - including its military demobilization and political participation in Gaza.
The government official said on recently that he hoped to announce the release of captives "soon"
Background Context
The negotiations, which will feature regional and international officials conducting mediation with representatives from both the conflicting parties separately, come on the approach of the second anniversary of the armed assault on border communities on October 7th, in which about 1,200 people were killed and 251 individuals were captured.
The defense forces initiated operations in Gaza in countermeasure. Following the initial attack, approximately 67,160 have been killed by Israeli military operations in Gaza, as reported by the region's Hamas-run health ministry.
Peace Plan Details
The detailed initiative, which has been agreed upon by US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, suggests an immediate end to hostilities and the liberation of 48 detained individuals, only 20 individuals are believed to be surviving, in exchange for multiple hundreds of incarcerated individuals.
The framework requires that once both sides agree to the initiative "complete assistance will be promptly delivered into the conflict zone"
It also states that Hamas would have no participation in governing Gaza, and it leaves the door open an independent Palestinian nation.
Recent Developments
In the latest development, officials replied to the plan in a statement, in which the group consented "to release all captured individuals, both living and dead, in accordance with the exchange formula specified by President Trump's proposal" - if the required situation for the transfers are satisfied.
It omitted reference to or endorse the detailed initiative but said it "reaffirms its commitment to relinquish the governance of the conflict zone to a Palestinian body of professionals, founded on regional unity and regional endorsement"
The declaration omitted reference of one of the crucial requirements of the proposal – that the militant group agree to its military demobilization and to playing no further role in the leadership of Gaza.
