Mario's Galactic Adventure Trailer Debuts, Unveiling Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
Nintendo alongside Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. It was showcased in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that focused exclusively on the forthcoming animated feature.
Following up on the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will transport Mario to the outer limits of the cosmos. Along the way, he discovers a fresh princess character and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
A Cosmic Adventure Drawing from Beloved Titles
Much like the games from the Wii period that serve as its inspiration, Mario will leave behind the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. During his grand adventure, he will meet again some well-known personalities, such as the Luma, a fan favorite from the first movie.
But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who seemingly utilizes powers related to metal. Interestingly, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also contains hints to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Celebrity Voice Actors Come Back and Grow
The film will welcome back of the original voice cast, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. It was announced by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
Mario's Major Moment
The new Mario movie is scheduled to arrive around the time of the 40th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 is shaping up to be a important time for Mario and his allies.
Nintendo confirmed three new games publicly declared for that year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
