The athlete recorded her fastest time of one minute 54.61 seconds the previous season in London.

Keely Hodgkinson finished her two-lap campaign with a win at the women-only Athlos event in New York on Friday evening.

{The current Olympic gold medallist, who secured third place at the World Championships last month, dominated an outstanding win in one minute 56.53 seconds in what was only her sixth race in a season affected by a hamstring injury.

Fellow Briton and global silver winner Georgia Bell finished second again in 1:58.33, while St Vincent's Shafiqua Maloney (1:58.57) secured third place.

"I haven't competed much this year so it was probably less of a struggle for me to compete and want to give it something," stated the 23-year-old.

"The environment at the event is incredible so it was really, really fun."

The female-exclusive meet filled the stadium in its second year, bringing a festive vibe to conventional athletics, with musical performances and Tiffany & Co. crowns substituting traditional winners' medals.

The 23-times tennis major winner Serena Williams, who is wed to Athlos founder Alexis Ohanian, was on hand to present the victors with their crowns.

Last year's winners took home sixty thousand dollars (forty-four thousand six hundred and three pounds) - among the biggest cash prizes in track and field.

The competition also drew some of the sport's biggest names, as the Kenyan three-time Olympic gold medallist and world record holder Faith Kipyegon triumphed in the mile race, crossing the finish line in four hours 17.78 minutes.

American Brittany B., the 200m bronze winner from the recent Paris Games, secured the sprint double.
