People have gathered across the country to mark two years since the Hamas-initiated assault on that fateful day in October 2023, as talks continued in Egypt over an end to the conflict in the Gaza Strip.

The incident resulted in in excess of 1,200 people losing their lives and 251 others captured back to Gaza as captives. It was the most most lethal day for Jewish people since the World War II.

Israel responded by initiating a military offensive in Gaza which has claimed more than 67,000 people, according to the region's Hamas-administered health ministry. Its statistics are regarded as trustworthy by the United Nations and other global organizations.

"Our violent opponents have hit us hard, but they have not overcome us," the leader remarked on Tuesday.

He also promised to "achieve all the objectives of the war: the release of all the kidnapped, the removal of the Hamas administration and the guarantee that Gaza will not create a risk to Israel".

Commemorative Events Across Israel

The national leadership rescheduled official commemorations until 16 October - after the end of the festive season - but events still took place throughout the country on Tuesday.

A remembrance service for the loved ones of people killed in the Hamas attack was organized in Tel Aviv. Put together by the victims' relatives, it was televised on Israeli television channels.

A period earlier, a silent tribute was held around the country.

Negotiation Talks in Egypt

At the same time, both sides' delegations gathered in the Egyptian coastal city of the negotiation venue for a continuing round of mediated discussions to examine the provisions of the agreement.

A senior representative knowledgeable about the talks said that an night meeting of negotiations began at 19:00 Cairo time.

The official explained the morning session ended without significant progress, because of conflicting views over the suggested Israeli withdrawal maps from Gaza and over guarantees Hamas demands to make certain Israel does not resume hostilities after the initial stage of the arrangement.

He added that the negotiations are "tough and have still not achieve any significant progress," but pointed out that facilitators are making efforts to reduce the differences between the two sides.

Key Matters in Discussions

  • An enduring halt to fighting
  • The trade of the captives still detained by Hamas for Palestinian prisoners from Gaza
  • The removal of military personnel from Gaza
  • Arrangements for humanitarian aid deliveries
  • Future administration of the region

Civilian Sentiment

In the city's memorial area previously, 29-year-old a woman - whose family member lived through the incident on the Nova music festival, where hundreds were lost their lives and numerous more were captured by Hamas fighters - shared: "No place feels like home any longer and until every captive return not a single person will feel safe."

"After we see everybody home once more, we can relax anew. Then we can begin to rebuild," she added.

Outside the leader's home in Jerusalem, people congregated to express their support for the relatives of the captives. Israel reports nearly fifty stay in captivity in Gaza, twenty of whom are thought to be living.

Activist Atalia Regev remarked: "We must do every compromise required for the captives to be released. But we sincerely need promises that we will be secure."

Opinion polls now consistently show that around 70% of the population prefer the conflict to conclude in return for the freedom of the abducted.

Palestinian Circumstances

At the area of the gathering, those paying respects assembled to pay their respects.

From that location, the sound of Israeli air strikes and explosions could be detected just a brief space away in Gaza, where local people reported the heavy Israeli shelling continued.

In the main city, bombardments were reported in the morning of Tuesday in the west side Tal al-Hawa, area and Nasr areas and in the east side neighbourhood of the community, as well Shati refugee camp to the northwest.

"Once the dusk comes, the anxiety comes with it," evacuated urban resident a local woman, whose young son was lost his life by an Israeli aerial attack previously, described.

"My family are terrified of the attacks. During nighttime we are sleeping together, embracing, particularly my little child who places his face on me all night."

"Constantly we look at the reports to see what happened. And I'm afraid that this halt will not be finalized and that the fighting will return to us."

Medical Situation

Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City reported it had taken in the bodies of six people by the afternoon, including several who lost their lives in an Israeli attack in the southern district.

Nasser hospital in the south region of that area said two more fatalities had been transported. A person was died by Israeli soldiers while seeking aid to the southern area, health workers reported.

The territory's health ministry said 25 of the {territ
