A senior Russian military figure has been fatally wounded following an blast in Moscow, according to an investigative body.

The event took place on Monday morning when an explosive device concealed beneath a vehicle was set off, causing the death of Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov.

Sarvarov held the position of the head of the armed forces' unit responsible for operational readiness.

Investigators mentioned that one possible explanation involves the alleged involvement of Ukrainian intelligence services. So far, Ukraine has not issued a comment.
